We were honoured that Scoil Maelruain was selected for the Launch of the National Cycling Programme on April 16th. An Taisce brought the Smoothie Bike to the school as part of the cycle launch. This resulted from the construction of the bike shed, Safe Cycling Courses and teacher, Kathy McHugh’s constant campaigning for children to walk or cycle to school. Financial assistance was provided by SDCC and the Parents’ Association. The school also received its fifth ‘green flag’ this month. It was the first school in South Dublin County Council area to do so.
