Art in Ms Flood’s Class!

Hallowe'en 2015

Our annual Hallowe’en fancy dress and art competition was held on Friday the 23rd of October. Children and indeed families went to great lengths creating amazing costumes – fridges, hot air balloons, barbie dolls and barbie teachers, washing machines and minions were in plentiful supply. This ‘Dress Up’ day raised over €430 for Jonathan Kiernan and his class mates in St. John of Gods school.

The children also decorated the foyer with amazing art pieces to create a Hallowe’en atmosphere..

Thanks to Ms. Dunning and her class who organised the ‘In Memory of Christine Day’. Well done to all the boys and girls who participated in the fun day!!!!

Have a look at our photos.

Halloween Fun

On the 24th October we had our annual Halloween Fancy Dress and Art competition. We encourage families to get together and make their own costumes and Halloween art. This year we had lots of really original and creative ideas. The school entrance was decorated with fabulous art from all classes. The Fancy Dress competition was one of the best yet with vampires, ghouls, clowns, minions and Minecraft characters and so many other original ideas. Even Bernard and other staff members joined in the fun. We raised money in memory of Christine Kiernan, our school secretary who passed away this time last year. Thanks to all those who supported the cause, the money will go towards St John of God’s Centre and Christine’s son who has special needs.

Here below you can see some photos of the Halloween art competition and the Fancy dress winners. Well done to everyone who took part.

January and February in Ms Carty’s 4th class

This is just a little sample of some of our hard work from January and February.

We were learning about China in Geography and we completed projects based on the country. We also celebrated Chinese New Year on Friday 31st Jan. We made lucky money wallets, paper lanterns, Chinese symbol paintings and horse paintings.  Did you know that this year is the year of the Horse?

For Valentine’s Day, we created beautiful images to match ‘love’ themed idioms. We became poets in our English class and worked on rhyming poems for Valentines Day. You can see some of our impressive poetry in our photos.

Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Mid-term from Ms Carty’s 4th class. :)

Christmas Art 2013

This year every class produced beautiful Christmas art to decorate the school hall. From Christmas jumpers, paintings, clay art and print, all strands of the art curriculum were covered. Thank you to all the children and teachers for making our school so colourful this Christmas. Below are some examples…
