January and February in Ms Carty’s 4th class

This is just a little sample of some of our hard work from January and February.

We were learning about China in Geography and we completed projects based on the country. We also celebrated Chinese New Year on Friday 31st Jan. We made lucky money wallets, paper lanterns, Chinese symbol paintings and horse paintings.  Did you know that this year is the year of the Horse?

For Valentine’s Day, we created beautiful images to match ‘love’ themed idioms. We became poets in our English class and worked on rhyming poems for Valentines Day. You can see some of our impressive poetry in our photos.

Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Mid-term from Ms Carty’s 4th class. :)

Christmas Art 2013

This year every class produced beautiful Christmas art to decorate the school hall. From Christmas jumpers, paintings, clay art and print, all strands of the art curriculum were covered. Thank you to all the children and teachers for making our school so colourful this Christmas. Below are some examples…

Halloween Art

Well done to all the boys and girls who made wonderful Halloween art pieces for the school’s annual display. The foyer looked positively scary!!

Art on our Walls

Ms. Biesty's Class Construction

Classes were delighted to attend a construction expo. held by Ms. Biesty’s 5th class. There were lots of imaginative constructions made entirely from recycled materials. The children fielded a range of questions about their individual items and their stories behind the constructions were very interesting. Well done to everyone involved.

Our World Awards – 5th Class (Ms. Biesty)

Over the last few weeks we have been learning about education in developing countries around the world as we are taking part in Irish Aid Our World Awards. We designed board games to show how difficult it is for other children around the world to get an education and how Irish Aid can help developing countries educate every child. We presented out project to other classes in the school and then invited them to come and check out our games!
