School Ethos

The staff and children of Scoil Maelruain work in tandem with our Parish team to uphold our Catholic ethos. Daily prayers and regular attendance at mass with the children actively participating has deepened our partnership with Fr. Michael and the parish team. Over one hundred children were confirmed by Bishop Eamonn Walsh on June 7th.. Both Bishop Eamonn and Fr. Michael praised the children for their reverent behaviour. If you are interested in being part of a Gospel Choir please call Parish Office on 01 4510160.

Summer Works/Buildings

Board of Management is delighted to report that plans for the new school build are progressing well.

Carpets were replaced in four of the classrooms over Easter.

Thanks to the local PM group who donated furniture to the school recently.

There are currently twenty five teachers in Scoil Maelruain – seventeen classroom teachers and eight support teachers. Four temporary teachers and two SNA’s will be appointed shortly.

The Board of Management conveys its deepest sympathy to Ms. Nichola Nolan on the recent unexpected death of her mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Nolan family at this sad time.

Best wishes to Ms. Kennedy who is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro this Summer.

Teachers availed of I-Pad training during the Croke Park hours. New I-Pads were purchased and are proving very popular with the teachers and the students.

The Board has concerns about the amount of children going on holidays during term time. This impacts negatively on children’s education. A school calendar accompanied the report cards. Please refer to this before booking a holiday. Thanking you in advance for your co-operation.

Curricular Development

Every effort is made to ensure that all pupils reach their full potential. The Board is very happy with the progress being made in numeracy and literacy. The Board would like to thank all staff members who work so hard to make Scoil Maelruain Senior the wonderful school it is. There is a wide range of extra-curricular activities available to the pupils. The pupils are given every opportunity to develop their many talents.

Parents’ Association

The BOM of Scoil Maelruain would like to thank the Parents’ Association for their tremendous support and trojan work throughout the year. The children and staff benefit from all their hard work. The Confirmation breakfast and sixth class disco were very successful events. Thanks to all families who supported the sponsored walk recently.

The school will reopen on August 29th
