4th Class Trip to the National Concert Hall

At the beginning of March all the 4th classes went on a lovely trip to the National Concert Hall. In there we saw the ‘Music in the Classroom’ concert. It was great for everyone to see a full orchestra in action and we all enjoyed the wonderful music they played for us. We watched the orchestra, dancers and laughed a lot at the conductor and his friends. We would really like to thank the Parents Association for subsidizing the trip, we all had a great day out.

Trip to Famine Ship & Hugh Lane Gallery – 5th Class (Ms Biesty)

After learning about the Irish Famine in history, on March 5th we went into city centre on the LUAS to visit the Jeanie Johnston Famine Ship. We also took the time to visit the Francis Bacon studio in the Hugh Lane Gallery. Fortunately, we were lucky with the weather and were able to enjoy our lunch in the Garden of Remembrance!

Our World Awards – 5th Class (Ms. Biesty)

Over the last few weeks we have been learning about education in developing countries around the world as we are taking part in Irish Aid Our World Awards. We designed board games to show how difficult it is for other children around the world to get an education and how Irish Aid can help developing countries educate every child. We presented out project to other classes in the school and then invited them to come and check out our games!

New Basketball Gear!

There are some very dedicated basketball players in our school.  Over the last few weeks we’ve had a couple of matches. The children were lucky enough to be able to wear the new kit for the matches and we all agree they looked fantastic! We would like to thank the parents association for their kind donation to fund these kits, they are greatly appreciated. I’m sure you’ll all agree the children look great in them! Here’s to the new gear bringing good luck for the year!

Engineering Week 2013 – 4th class trip

On Thursday 28th Feb, Ms Carty’s class visited Tallaght Stadium to attend an Engineering Week event. We attended a really cool science demonstration with lots of interesting experiments.

We learned about gravity and air pressure. Hand-held helicopters, hovercrafts, giant marshmallows, exploding rockets and chairs made of nails are just a taster of what we got up to!

We also stopped off in the playground on the way back because we were so well behaved!

Take a look at our photos!!
